Scoraig Sea Taxi was founded over 15 years ago by Bill Burstall. It began, in part, to provide postal services to the Scoraig community. It has since expanded to serve the wider community, including connections for the local primary and secondary schools.
Lisa Burstall continues to run the business, ensuring it adapts to the ever changing needs of the community, and beyond.
The Clan Albain was custom designed by Bill, specifically for the unique Scoraig crossing and challenging local conditions. It was built in Northumberland by Almaritec.
In 2015 we also added the Scrimshaw to the business. The design for the Scrimshaw was based on a boat built by Topher Dawson and adapted by Nout van Heumen, a friend and industrial engineer and designer from the Netherlands. It was built locally by Sam Barlow. It is also fully licensed and continues to provide a back up service to the Clan Albain.
Our dedicated, fully licensed, expert skippers, Jonah, Martha, Ian and Ise, have decades of experience in navigating the waters around the Scoraig Peninsula. They share a vast knowledge of the local area and conditions. They are always happy and willing to help and advise, and they know the best spots to find the fish!
